POOL SAFETY STARTS WITH CONSTANT ATTENTION
Summer means sunshine, family gatherings, and plenty of time spent around pools. While swimming can be one of the season’s greatest joys, it also comes with serious responsibilities, especially when children are involved. Young children and inexperienced swimmers can move quickly and silently into dangerous situations, often without warning. That is why supervision should never be casual or interrupted.
Adults should remain within arm’s reach of young children and avoid distractions such as phones, conversations, or stepping away “for just a minute.” Inflatable toys and floaties can provide fun, but they are not substitutes for proper supervision or swimming skills. Swimming lessons can help children gain confidence and learn important safety habits, but even children who can swim should still be watched carefully.
The best pool rule is simple: a moment of attention can prevent a lifetime of regret.
