GREEN FEATURES BUYERS WANT
More and more Americans are getting serious about energy efficiency. Today’s homebuyers aren’t just looking for a bargain on the purchase price; they also want to keep saving money on their utility bills after the sale.
According to a recent survey by AVID Ratings (a home design research group), interest in green homes has taken a huge leap forward this year, and is expected to continue to grow into the future, as utility costs increase, and energy efficient products become more affordable.
These days homebuyers are starting to put green features on their “must have” lists when looking for a home. The most popular products they are looking for are energy efficient insulation, double-paned windows, water conserving devices, air filtration systems, green flooring, and Energy Star™ appliances.
If you are planning to sell your home, talk to your REALTOR® about what kind of green upgrades will make cost-effective and attractive selling points to your buyers, and be sure to highlight them in your marketing materials.
